 Audition to become a member of the MLSD Competition Team for the 2015-2016 Season! We have several commitment level options, so you can choose to audition to compete once a year or several times a year. Come to our audition workshops and the final auditions to learn more and be considered for a spot on the team!

 Audition to become a member of the MLSD Competition Team for the 2014-2015 Season! We have several commitment level options, so you can choose to audition to compete once a year or several times a year. Come to our audition workshops and the final auditions to learn more and be considered for a spot on the team! The workshops ARE part of the audition and therefore mandatory. The workshops will include ballet evaluations and you will learn one of the audition dances. At the audition on Saturday you will perform the audition dance from the workshops and learn one more short piece of choreography to audition as well. Audition attire should be worn to each workshop and the final audition on Saturday (Black Leotard, booty shorts, tights and hair in bun. Proper shoes for ballet, jazz/acro, contemporary/lyrical and/or tap). Please read the competition team overview, have a parent/guardian attend the parent meeting Sunday July 27 from 3-4pm, and be sure to bring your completed audition form to the 1st workshop along with your 8 x 10 portrait headshot. The competition team overview and audition form are attached below. Please attend the workshops and auditions for the age that you will be as of January 1, 2015. Workshops - Monday July 28 through Thursday July 31 @ MLSD Minis (Ages 5-8): Monday July 28 & Wednesday July 30 from 5-7pm Juniors (Ages 9-11): Tuesday July 29 & Thursday July 31 from 5-7pm Teens (Ages 12-14) Monday July 28 & Wednesday July 30 from 7-9pm Seniors (Ages 15-18): Tuesday July 29 & Thursday July 31 from 7-9pm Final Audition - Saturday August 2nd @ Five Points Washington Minis (Ages 5-8): 10am-11am Juniors (Ages 9-11): 11am-12pm Teens (Ages 12-14): 12:30-1:30pm Seniors (Ages 15-18): 1:30pm-2:30pm *Please note, just because you are auditioning for a certain age group, doesn't mean that is the age group you will be placed in. We are looking for a class average that falls into those categories, however if a student blends better (technically and/or stylistically) with the next age group down or next age group up, we will move them accordingly as we (the MLSD Staff) see fit. This is to ensure that all dancers are being set up to succeed which is the goal of our staff :) *Any student wishing to be considered for a competition solo next year must prepare a 1 minute solo to audition with during audition week. The solo auditions will take place on Wednesday July 30, Thursday July 31st, and/or Saturday August 2nd, depending on the number of soloists auditioning. Monday June 16 - Friday June 20 AND Monday June 23 - Friday June 27 SESSION 2 Monday July 21 - Friday July 25 AND Monday July 28 - Friday August 1 Since last year's summer intensives were a huge hit and huge help to our dancers, we decided to bring back our daytime dance intensives. You pick how many classes you take! Come in for a drop-in class, come in for one day, sign-up for a full week or take the full two weeks of classes! The more you take, the better the deal. If you take the full 2 weeks, the price is only about $5 per hour!! Click here for schedule and pricing!  It's time to start ordering costumes!! Last night, I started distributing the form below to the students in class. I will continue passing them out through next week to make sure everyone gets a copy to sign and bring back. However, please go ahead and read it now so you are aware of important information regarding costume measuring and ordering! And of course, please let me know if you have any questions!! We were so excited to go back to NRG in Kansas City!! Big thank you to Rustin, Nick, Cat, Andre and Melissa for making it a memorable weekend for the kids!!
On Wednesday March 20th, the Elite Competition Team is having Stage Practice at Five Points. From 8-9pm they will be doing a full dress rehearsal. Anyone who would like to come show their support and wish them luck at their first competition is welcome to come watch.
